Explore new horizons, discover the world! Not only do our motorhomes make this possible; it also describes our spirit. We leave well-worn paths and work on visions for how we will travel tomorrow, for example autonomously and connected. We question the standard solutions, discuss them and cooperate with experts in various areas – an outstanding experience we find particularly enriching.
We like to rely on teamwork to solve major challenges. The Erwin Hymer Group Innovation Camp is our innovation platform. It is where we exchange views with research institutions and universities, and it provides an environment that allows us to realise new ideas and solve specific problems.
Our collaborations with various, also international, universities are particularly productive. Some of our successful projects serve to illustrate just how well they work:
"We are in the middle of a revolution right now," says Ross McKenzie, Managing Director Waterloo Center for Automotive Research. He is referring to the transition from the stage where people are at the wheel themselves to the stage when the driver becomes a passenger and the vehicle drives autonomously. The institute consists of a group of 130 professors from six faculties. Students and experts are working on the first autonomous motorhome together with the Erwin Hymer Group. In the twelve-week project, students assisted with the programming of walkable virtual caravan models. This allows our designers to test new design and layout versions faster and more efficiently. The interest shown by the students was huge. The participants were enthusiastic about this kind of mobile living and travelling and our products.
In this ten-week project, we developed concepts for first-time caravan buyers together with a team of sixteen students, including a marketing concept aimed particularly at the young target group. The team consisted of participants with a wide variety of cultural and professional backgrounds – which was reflected in the multifaceted results.
